What is vehicle J2534 flash-reprogramming?

Flashing is the process of replacing existing software in a vehicle controller with new software by electronically transferring approved calibration files from a vehicle manufacturer's website. (Also known as reflashing, flashing, programming, or reconfiguring.)

Why is rescheduling so important?

• Automakers are constantly changing their control software to make vehicle use more efficient, by solving discovered problems, adjusting components and systems, updating setpoints as the vehicle ages , among other solutions.
• New controllers replaced on a vehicle require programming to exactly match the specs and option list on the car being repaired.
• Many technical service bulletins (TSBs) issued by automakers require reprogramming with the latest software updates to fix problems with vehicles, even after their warranties have expired.

Our remanufacturing process consists of 5 main stages:

• Diagnosis. We tested the ECM/TCM unit for any faults.
• Repair. We change the components in poor condition and degraded to prevent possible failures.
• Verification. We run a new diagnostic to verify that the problem is resolved.
• Update-Flash. We use manufacturer software to verify that the unit (ECM/TCM) has the latest calibrations, to prevent future failures.
• Sealing. We replace the “Conformal Coatings” or “GEL” of the ECM/PCM and/or TCM, we paint and label. Our commitment is to deliver clean and professional work.

When an engine control unit, or ECU, is severely damaged, vehicles stop working. Most dealers only have the ability to program new ECU kits, not reprogram older models.

What is ECU Cloning?

ECU cloning is a technical process where existing engine computer information is duplicated into a replacement ECU. The information, including the vehicle identification number (VIN), allows a new computer to replace a damaged unit. At Advamex, our highly experienced technicians can use a new or second hand ECU for the cloning process. With our high-quality cloning services, no additional ECU programming is required prior to installation.

When to clone ECU

If your vehicle begins to have engine problems, such as rough starts or stalls, it's usually time to have your ECU repaired. While Advamex's highly-skilled technicians can repair most ECU problems, damaged or corroded ECU, ECM, PCM and FICM units must be cloned and replaced. Our lab can clone damaged ECU data to a replacement computer for much less than repair costs.
